In September 2022, the LHSIR800/150 model machine independently developed by Kaiquan for the nuclear power plant orders of “Tianwan Units 7 and 8 and Xudapu Units 3 and 4” successfully passed a number of performance, cavitation, and operation tests, and passed the acceptance test under the guidance of experts. The low-pressure safe injection pump is an important part of the safe injection system, which injects boron-containing water into the main cooling loop to maintain reactor core cooling and ensure the safe operation of nuclear units during emergencies and earthquakes. In 2020, Kaiquan cooperated with CNNC Suneng Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. and CNNC Liaoning Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. signed a 200 million yuan contract to build 16 LHSIR800/150 two-stage safe injection pumps for pressurized water reactor VVER units. Previously, the manufacturing technology of these pumps was dominated by pump industries from Europe, America and Japan, while the equipment of Tianwan Units 1 to 4 was supplied by foreign countries. To reduce procurement costs and break the dependence on foreign technology, Kaiquan mobilized a team of experts to tackle technical challenges such as high-flow performance, anti-cavitation, and axial force balance mechanism design. In 2021, Kaiquan successfully developed a model engine of a two-stage safe injection pump for VVER nuclear reactors. This pump consists of various components such as pumps, motors, coolers, and other accessories. The horizontal pump design with upward-directed inflow and outflow simplifies installation and maintenance. Pump Specifications:

  • Design temperature: 20℃ to 150℃
  • Design pressure: 5.5MPa

The pump has intellectual property rights wholly owned by Kaiquan, with patents that can be applied to the development of similar multi-stage centrifugal pumps. Compared with imported equipment, the internal structure of this pump is simpler and easy to install and maintain, making it more stable and reliable. With the rapid growth of nuclear energy, the market position of nuclear pumps in China is increasingly important.
