In August 2023, Zhongzhou Anyang Water Supply Organization successfully held a water inspection meeting for Anyang City’s western water transfer project within the framework of the South to North Water Transfer Project.
The project uses 6 sets of 710KW, 4 sets of 800KW, and 4 sets of 1000KW horizontal double-suction pumps provided by Kaiquan, and was officially declared to have passed the inspection by the expert group after on-site inspection and data review.

I. Project Background

Anyang City, located in the northern part of Henan Province, is a historic city that is also home to important industries such as steel, chemicals and coal gasification. However, the western region of the city is facing a severe water shortage. To solve this problem, Anyang Municipal Government decided to implement a massive water transfer project with a length of 50.8 kilometers and an investment of 1.595 billion yuan. The project is one of the largest water conservation projects in the city.

II. Project Challenges

The project involved channeling 70 million cubic meters of Danjiang water through water pipes and tunnels passing through 69 critical facilities, including rivers, roads and railways, to a height of 275 meters with the help of a three-stage pressurized pumping station. The stability and reliability of the water pumps were key to the success of this project. To this end, after winning the tender, Kaiquan immediately established a dedicated project team that conducted intensive site visits and communications. They successfully designed efficient, energy-saving pumps that met the needs of the project, and completed the installation and testing of the equipment successfully.

III. Application Impact

The project will benefit nearly one million residents in Linzhou, Yindu and Long’an. The annual water supply for Linzhou reaches 40 million m³, Yindu 20 million m³, and Long’an 10 million m³. The project will end the water shortage crisis in the western region of Anyang City, improve people’s quality of life, and promote economic and social development.
